A particularly important letter from the military department has disappeared, it never made it from the post office to the military registration and enlistment office. The investigator searches for enemies and finds no one. He understands that the Postman – that’s what the townspeople call the young postman – was the last to see the letter. The Postman has been delivering letters since childhood, he is “odd”, but an exemplary postman. The townspeople sympathize with him, he is one of them. But what happened to the letter? And what is “wrong” here?
